Rolls-Royce has provided a bespoke red Phantom for auction by Sotheby's to benefit (RED). The winning bidder will have the opportunity to collaborate with contemporary artist Mickalene Thomas to create a custom wrap for their car, based on a work of art inspired by the car.

"It is an honor and privilege to present this one of a kind commission created at the Home of Rolls-Royce in Goodwood, England," commented Martin Fritsches, President and CEO of Rolls-Royce Motor Cars Americas. "Every member of our team is deeply inspired by this world-class commission and equally by the importance of the cause that it was created to support - (RED)'s fight to end AIDS. We are proud to partner with Mickalene Thomas, Sotheby's and RM Sotheby's to achieve an outstanding result from this auction."

The Spirit of Ecstasy sits on the hood of each Rolls-Royce model.

As presented for auction, the (RED) Phantom's exterior features a bespoke finish of Crystal over Magma Red. Particles of crystal are captured in the final layers of finish, creating an extraordinary luminescence. The handcrafted Brilliant Arctic White leather interior is offset by bright Mugello Red highlights. On the cabin's roof is a Mugello Red Shooting Starlight Headliner. Housed within a single-piece glass fascia and extending across the instrument panel, the Gallery design, "Red Regatta Sails," is constructed of Bespoke Mugello Red leather.

The model has deep heritage in the automaker's lineup, first debuting in 1925 and now it is in its eighth generation. The Rolls-Royce Phantom is a full-size luxury sedan that was completely redesigned two years ago. The model is generally purchased by the automaker's most sophisticated buyer, often someone who has a driver. It is available in regular and extended wheelbases.

Pricing for a Rolls-Royce Phantom traditionally starts at $450,000.

The online auction at sothebys.com will run December 4-13, 2019.

A Stockholm-based entrepreneur with an affinity for flowers has commissioned a new Rolls-Royce Phantom. When he ordered the car, he challenged Rolls-Royce Bespoke Collective, the company's high-level customization team, to envision a car that wrapped its occupants in a floral scene.

The result is a new Phantom with one million embroidered stitches.

"The Rose Phantom is a stunning iteration of a contemporary Rolls-Royce," said Torsten Müller Ötvös, Chief Executive, Rolls-Royce Motor Cars. "Our extraordinary craftspeople at the Home of Rolls-Royce have achieved, with this car, something which can only be described as sublime. The work of our Bespoke Collective is the best in the world. When I look at creations like this car, it is with a sense of pride that I know that these skills could not be replicated anywhere else in the world. This is undoubtedly one of the greatest Rolls-Royce Phantoms of its generation."

Ieuan Hatherall, one of the Bespoke Designers on the Rolls-Royce team, took inspiration for the design from the rose garden at the Home of Rolls-Royce in Goodwood, West Sussex. It is in that garden that a special breed of flower, the Phantom Rose, is exclusively grown. It was bred exclusively for Rolls-Royce by British Rose Breeder Philip Harkness of Harkness Roses.

"There is a transcendent beauty when a rose garden is in full bloom," Hatherall said, "The patron wanted to create that same feeling of awe; an abundance of flowers to lift the spirit and celebrate nature's decadent beauty, in the Rose Phantom's serene interior."

The exterior of the new Rose Phantom car is covered in a Peacock Blue paint job. It features a Charles Blue twinned-coachline designed to intertwine like the stem of a rose. The wheels are the same color as the pinstripe.

Inside the model is the one-million stitch embroidery. Starting with the inside of the rear doors and opening up to engulf the cabin in the stitched mastery of a season in full bloom. The Phantom Roses depicted appear in various stages from bud to bloom, in an asymmetrical design that appears to naturally grow across the roof lining. The roses are interspersed with the individual fiber-optic lights of the car's headliner.

Charles Blue leather fills the interior and is accented with Peacock Blue piping. Stems of embroidered roses fill the Phantom's Gallery, climbing through the element's glass-fronted fascia.

In addition to the flowers, Peacock and Adonis Blue butterflies were added to the motif.

While the car was inspired by nature, it was designed to haul around a family, who also played an integral role in its design. The patron has a wife and two children. His daughter Magnolia chose the exterior color of the car while his wife designed the Rolls-Royce's umbrella.

Ryan Reynolds stars in the new Netflix movie "6 Underground".

The '6 Underground' trailer opens with actor Ryan Reynolds waxing poetic. "What's the best part of being dead? It isn't escaping your boss, your ex, or even erasing your criminal record. The best part about being dead...is the freedom," he says. That freedom apparently includes driving through the streets of Italy like a maniac in a lime green 2020 Alfa Romeo Giulia.

Alfa Romeo has updated the Giulia for the 2020 model year, including a thoroughly new take on the car's infotainment system. The model staring in the film is a 2020 Giulia Quadrifolgio, the most performance-focused variant of the Italian sports sedan.

It shines as it is burning rubber and maneuvering around Italy's famously narrow and pedestrian-crowded streets with proper camera angles showing off its sharp steering and Reynold's knowing smile.

The Netflix film, which had a reported budget of $150 million, is directed by Michael Bay, the man responsible to brining the modern shoot 'em up while you blow 'em up style of action movie to millions of viewers for decades now. His previous work includes "The Rock", "Bad Boys", and the Transformers series.

Reynolds recently tweeted that "6 Underground" is, "the most Michael Bay movie in the history of Michael Bay." Translation: a feast for your eyes.

Other vehicles seen in the movie include a Maserati Quattroporte (Maserati and Alfa Romeo share common FCA ownership), Ferrari 488 Pista, Land Rover Range Rovers (may they rest in peace), and a Rolls-Royce Ghost.

"6 Underground" debuts exclusively on Netflix on December 13.

The 2020 Alfa Romeo Giulia will arrive on U.S. shores before the end of the year.
