These 21 vintage vehicles from Paul Walker's collection sold for $2.3 million at auction

Twenty-one vehicles from the collection of late actor Paul Walker went up for sale last week at Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale.

It's been just over seven years since actor Paul Walker passed away in a single-car accident. Since that fateful day, there have been nearly as many tales of Walker's generosity as there have been stories about his love for cars. At this year's Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale Auction, 21 vehicles from Walker's collection were sold.

From Wednesday to Saturday, the vehicles crossed the block one by one. The total of the sales added up to $2,333,450, according to Craig Jackson, chairman and CEO of Barrett-Jackson.

"Paul Walker has been compared to a modern-day Steve McQueen, who lived his passion for racing in every aspect of his life," Jackson told The Hollywood Reporter. "[He] has inspired entire generations of car lovers. We worked closely with a close friend of Paul's who helped care for Paul's collection following his death; he was responsible for consigning and prepping the vehicles for the auction. Paul's daughter, Meadow, kept a few vehicles she had a connection with."

Lot #1371 - This 1995 BMW M3 E36 Lightweight is part of a collection belonging to the late actor Paul Walker. Exact production numbers were never confirmed by BMW, but it's widely accepted that between 120 and 126 E36 Lightweights were produced. Walker was an avid fan of BMW and kept a total of seven M3s in his collection five of them Lightweights. This E36 M3 LTW is powered by a BMW S50 3.0-liter inline-6 engine factory-rated at 240hp and 225 ft/lbs of torque. The S50 is backed by a 5-speed manual transmission. It's finished in Alpine White III with the tri-color checker M-motif on the left-front and right-rear corners, it also has a cloth and carbon-fiber-trimmed interior. The 1995 Lightweight came from the factory an estimated 220 pounds lighter than the standard M3. Absent the radio, air conditioning, tool kit and sunroof. The Lightweight also featured integrated aluminum door skins, carpet that was featured only on the trunk floor, the underbody insulation was thinner and special carpeting was used; all in the name of lowering the car's weight for racing. This M3 has just over 4,600 actual miles (the title reads mileage exempt).

Lot #730.1 - This Skyline R32 was owned by "The Fast and the Furious" star Paul Walker and is powered by an RB26DETT 2.6-liter twin turbo inline-6 engine with a 5-speed manual transmission. Power from the "Godzilla" engine is put to the road via the ATTESSA all-wheel-drive system. The right-hand-drive Skyline features a stripped interior with a full roll cage, Sparco racing seat and fire extinguisher. Upgrades from HKS and A'PEXi, as well as a KOYORAD radiator, line the engine bay. The Gun Grey Metallic R32 sits on a pair of black Enkei RPF1 wheels that mask a set of Endless brake calipers.

Lot #373 - Owned by late actor and "The Fast and the Furious" star Paul Walker, this 2008 Suzuki DR-Z400SM is the road legal equivalent of the DR-400S. The Supermotard features a 400CC DOHC liquid-cooled engine coupled to a 5-speed gearbox that uses a cable-operated clutch. The motorcycle is finished in Alpine White.

Lot #1371.1 - This 1991 M3 E30 was owned by the late actor Paul Walker. The E30 M3 was developed for racing and is considered a successful DTM series car. At the time, Group A regulations mandated that 5,000 road-going variants be produced and sold within a 12-month period for a vehicle to be homologated for racing. The S14 inline-4 engine produced a factory rated 195hp and 170 ft/lbs of torque, the nimble M3 is suited for a road course or rally stage and is paired with a 5-speed Getrag manual transmission. The M3 features unique bodywork engineered for competition. Eagle-eyed enthusiasts can discern that the C-pillar is flatter and wider than the M3's standard two-door E30 sibling. The flared fenders and quarter-panels angle themselves as pure motorsports derivatives, and the iconic rear wing symbolizes a golden era in touring car racing. This M3 is finished in Alpine White II over a black interior. It has 7,644 actual miles (the title reads mileage exempt).

Lot #731 - The fifth-generation Ford Bronco was the final iteration of the off-road icon before discontinuation. This 1995 Ford Bronco Eddie Bauer Edition belonged to late actor and "Fast and Furious" franchise star Paul Walker. The Bronco features the 5.8-liter 351ci Windsor V8 engine that produces a factory rated 210hp and 325 ft/lbs of torque, paired with a 4-speed automatic transmission. Finished in Black Clearcoat over a tan leather interior, the four-wheel-drive Bronco features 32,808 actual miles (the title reads mileage exempt).

Lot #373.1 - This 2000 Audi S4 2.7 Quattro features a 90-degree 2.7-liter twin-turbo V6 engine producing a factory-rated 261hp and 295 ft/lbs of torque. The engine features five valves per cylinder and two parallel BorgWarner turbos. A Torsen T-2 quattro permanent all-wheel-drive system sends power to all four wheels via a 6-speed manual transmission. It is finished in Brilliant Black over a black leather interior.

Lot #1372 - This M3 E36 Lightweight is from The Paul Walker Collection and is powered by a 3.0-liter inline-6 BMW S50B30 engine that produced a factory-rated 240hp and 225 ft/lbs of torque. The engine is paired with a 5-speed manual transmission with a final drive ratio of 3:23:1. Exact production numbers were never confirmed by BMW, but it's widely accepted that between 120 and 126 E36 Lightweights were produced. The M3s left the factory sans radio, air conditioning and tool kit to reduce weight and to enhance the vehicle's performance. Aluminum doors were also included in the E36 Lightweight's package. Finished in Alpine White III, the car bears the tri-color checkered M motif graphics package on the left-front and right-rear corners. Inside the black interior, carbon-fiber trim adorns the cabin, and BMW Motorsports International insignias are integrated into the glovebox and doorsills. This M3 rides on forged magnesium wheels emblazoned with "MOTORSPORT." It has 15,485 actual miles (the title reads mileage exempt).

Lot #374 - This 2006 Toyota Tundra Access Cab SR5 features a 4.7-liter i-Force V8 engine. The DOHC 32-valve 2-UZ-FE engine features Toyota's VVT-I variable valve timing that produces a factory-rated 271hp and 313 ft/lbs of torque, and is paired with a 5-speed automatic transmission. The Tundra has a towing capacity of 6,500 pounds and a maximum payload of 1,580 pounds. Finished in Phantom Gray over a gray interior, the Tundra is accented by black wheels and a Softopper canopy.

Lot #731.1 - This 1967 Chevrolet Nova was built as a joint effort between "The Fast and The Furious" franchise star Paul Walker and Year One president Kevin King. Year One was involved during the production of "2Fast 2Furious," supplying parts used for the film's cars. Walker and King struck up a bond and eventually settled on building a reliable day-to-day cruiser. The Nova was initially powered by an LS1; that engine was removed and replaced with a GM 5.3-liter V8 engine that is mated to an automatic transmission. Finished in Slate Gray, the Nova sits on a set of 17x7 and 18x9.5 Wheel Vintiques billet rallye wheels clad in a set of BFGoodrich g-Force 245/45-17 fronts and 295/35-18 rears. Stopping power is provided by a set of four-piston Wilwood brakes at all four corners. Inside, a custom dash panel holds a set of Autometer Ultra Lite electronic gauges, as well as bucket seats.

Lot #1372.1 - Built for racing, the Lightweight M3s were BMW North America's homologation specials for the IMSA Firehawk series. Exact production numbers were never confirmed by BMW, but it's widely accepted that between 120 and 126 E36 Lightweights were produced. The motorsport-inspired M3 produces a factory-rated 240hp and 225 ft/lbs of torque by way of a BMW S50B30 3.0-liter inline-6 engine. A 5-speed manual transmission sends power to the rear wheels with a final drive ratio of 3:23:1. The Lightweight M3 went on a crash diet, doing away with creature comforts deemed unnecessary for performance driving. The radio, air conditioning and most of the sound insulation were removed, and the standard doors were replaced with aluminum versions. This M3 was one of five owned by actor Paul Walker and has 14,283 actual miles (the title reads mileage exempt).

Lot #374.1 - This 2003 Ford F-250 Super Duty features a 7.3-liter turbo-diesel Powerstroke V8 engine producing a factory-rated 275hp and 525 ft/lbs of torque, which is paired with a 4-speed automatic transmission. This F-250 has an extended cab and a 6-3/4-foot short-bed. The pickup is finished in Dark Shadow Gray over a gray cloth interior. Lot #375.1 - Owned and driven by late actor and "The Fast and the Furious" star Paul Walker, this 2004 GMC Sierra K2500HD 4X4 features a 6.6-liter Duramax turbo-diesel V8 engine that produces a factory-rated 300hp and 520 ft/lbs of torque. The diesel engine is backed by an Allison 1000 5-speed automatic transmission and features a selectable four-wheel drive. The 2004 features a factory-rated towing capacity of 12,000 pounds and a 4,000-pound load capacity. This example is featured in Summit White over a Dark Pewter Cloth interior.

Lot #1374 - This 1988 M3 E30 was owned by the late actor Paul Walker. The E30 M3 was developed for racing in the DTM series. Due to regulations, the M3 had to be homologated and road-going versions had to be produced. All the bodywork, sans the hood, is unique to the M3 over the standard E30. The M3 features flared fenders and quarter-panels, as well as bespoke front and rear bumpers unique to the M3. Power is supplied by an S14 2.3 liter inline-4 engine that produces a factory rated 195hp and 170 ft/lbs of torque. It is backed by a 5-speed manual Getrag transmission sending power to the rear wheels with the aid of limited-slip differential. The standard E30's MacPherson Strut/semi-trailing arm suspension has had substantial changes in its evolution to the motorsport-bred M3. Including a larger rear antiroll bar, wider track and revalved shocks. This M3 is painted in Alpine White II over a Natur Bison interior. Only 5,115 M3s were sold in the United States from 1988-91 and features 32,269 actual miles.

Lot #1374.1 - This 2013 Boss 302S race car was purchased by a fellow racing enthusiast as gift for the late actor Paul Walker. Walker took delivery of the new Mustang and it was put up on a lift for storage. As it stands, this Boss 302S is nearly new and never raced. Powered by a 5.0-liter V8 Ford Racing Motorsport engine equipped with Ford Racing PCS software and calibration, Ford Racing oil pan, Setrab ProLine engine oil cooler, Boss 302 fuel system and an upgraded DeWitt radiator. Power is sent through a TREMEC T6060 6-speed manual transmission with an Exedy clutch through a Torsen T2R differential with 3.73 gears. The chassis features coilover dampers, lower control arms with a Delrin bushing kit, caster/camber plates up front, Ford Racing antiroll bar and a Ford Racing adjustable Panhard bar out back. Stopping power is provided by Brembo four-piston front racing brakes with 15-inch two-piece rotors, PFC racing pads, Ford Racing ducts, stainless lines, Ford Racing brake booster assembly and unique Ford Racing ABS calibration. The interior features an AIM MXL data acquisition system with GPS, RECARO HANS Pro Racer seat, quick-release racing steering wheel, window net, safety system triangle nets, six-point racing harness, master cutoff switch and a heat shield on the driver's side floor. Outside, this Boss 302S features a Ford Racing front splitter, adjustable carbon-fiber wing, and Boss 302S graphics package. Not street legal.

The M3 Lightweight is 220 pounds lighter than the standard M3 and this drop-in weight is due to removing some amenities. Exact production numbers were never confirmed by BMW, but it's widely accepted that between 120 and 126 E36 Lightweights were produced. The radio, air conditioning and most of the sound-deadening material were removed to reduce its weight to 2,950 pounds and to enhance the vehicle's performance. Power is supplied by a 3.0-liter inline-6 engine that is mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. It is finished in Alpine White III and offered with the diagonal M motif tri-color checkered graphics. The black interior features carbon-fiber trim. This M3 has 42,514 actual miles (the title reads mileage exempt).

Lot #376.1 - Designed to be ridden anywhere, this 2011 BMW F800GS has a 800cc parallel twin engine that generates 85hp and 62 ft/lbs of torque. The engine is mated to a constant mesh 6-speed gearbox that is integrated into the crankcase. The load-bearing engine is coupled with a tubular steel space frame, and the motorcycle has a total dry weight of 392 pounds. A 4.2-gallon fuel tank sits nestled under the seat, providing a low center of gravity. The F800GS has 9 inches of suspension travel up front and 8.5 inches in the rear. The motorcycle is finished in Alpine White.

Lot #377 - This 2005 Harley-Davidson FLTSCI custom motorcycle was built for actor Paul Walker by Road Dog Customs in California. The design was inspired by the classic Harley-Davidson's from the 1940s. A 1440cc engine is coupled to a 5-speed gearbox. The motorcycle features many custom parts, including the instrument cluster, handlebars, open belt, floorboards, exhaust pipes and shaved-down oil tank. The controls are from Performance Machine, and it features an alligator-inspired leather seat. The Harley features black powder-coated wheels and a bespoke paint job, with nickel plating replacing all the chrome.

Lot #730 - This 2009 Nissan 370Z was owned by Paul Walker and made an appearance in the film, "Fast Five." It's powered by a 3.7-liter V6 engine producing 332hp backed by a 6-speed manual transmission and sits on unequal-length control-arm front suspension. Standard features include push-button start, automatic climate control and cruise control. Finished in silver, this 370Z rides on custom wheels and has 3,092 actual miles.

Lot #1373.1 - BMW was actively competing in motorsport with the E36 at the time and greenlit a homologation special for the U.K. market, the M3 GT. Unsatisfied with their variant of the E36 M3 (when compared to its European counterpart), BMW North America pressured the Munich-based manufacturer into building a racing thoroughbred of their own. The cars were sent to BMW North America's racing partner, Prototype Technology Group in Virginia. While there, the M3s received several upgrades and unique features over their more pedestrian siblings. The Lightweight M3 received a hand-picked 3.0-liter inline-6 engine and power was sent to the rear wheels via a 5-speed manual transmission. Exact production numbers were never confirmed by BMW, but it's widely accepted that between 120 and 126 of the Lightweight M3s were produced, with 10 being pre-production models. All the 2,950-pound M3s were finished in Alpine White III. This M3 Lightweight is unique in that it does not feature the diagonal M motif tri-color checkered graphics, nor does it feature the traditional Lightweight rear spoiler. Inside, the interior featured carbon-fiber trim; the traditional luxury amenities were absent. BMW removed the radio, air conditioning and most of the sound-deadening material, all in the name of weight reduction. This M3 has 34,400 actual miles (the title reads mileage exempt).

Earlier this year, Subaru announced the all-new BRZ sports car, which is coming this fall to replace the previous generation of the car that was discontinued in 2020. It, along with its Toyota cousin, the 86, get more power, updated interiors, and better technology than their predecessors.

The BRZ Premium is the base trim of the car. It starts at $28,955 after destination. Adding an automatic transmission drives the price up by $1,600 to $30,555. The BRZ Limited starts at $31,455 after destination, which shifts to $33,255 with an automatic transmission.


2022 Subaru BRZ The BRZ's compact size and manual transmission make it enthusiast friendly.


The 2022 BRZ gets a new 2.4-liter four-cylinder Boxer engine that produces 228 horsepower. Part of the appeal of small, sporty cars like BRZ is that they are infinitely more fun to drive than larger, more computerized vehicles. To that end, the car comes standard with a six-speed close-ratio manual transmission. Buyers can opt to swap in a six-speed automatic transmission, but that almost defeats the point of the car. A Torsen limited-slip differential, vehicle stability control with track mode, and 17-inch wheels round out the car's standard performance features.

Inside, the BRZ comes with an 8-inch touchscreen that runs Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Bluetooth, SiriusXM radio, and dual-zone automatic climate controls. A new gauge cluster display can show amps, coolant temperatures, or the car's lateral g-forces, and when track mode is engaged, the tachometer shifts from a circular to a color linear graph.

2021 Ford Bronco review: Return of a legend

Ford says its 2021 Bronco is 'Built Wild' like its wild-horse namesake and, as this iconic model returns to the U.S. market after a 25-year hiatus, it's ready to gallop to glory once again. Released from the Ford stables in 1965, the Bronco was America's first-ever "sport ute" and heralded as the first "4WD sports car" with both off-road capability and on-road competency; it was also dubbed the "G.O.A.T." (goes over any terrain). The all-new model is reincarnated as a modern-day midsize SUV with heritage-inspired styling; rugged engineering; and a collection of smart technologies for the backcountry and four-wheeling, as well as for a smoothish ride around town and on the highway. It marries the tough attributes of Ford's F-Series trucks with a fully-boxed steel-ladder frame and advanced 4WD systems to the performance spirit of the Mustang—and, once again, is nicknamed G.O.A.T! Larger than its stablemate, the Bronco Sport competes with vehicles like the Jeep Cherokee, while the Bronco is a direct competitor to the Jeep Wrangler. The new Bronco comes in 4WD only, and is available in a two-door version that seats four people or a four-door model with room for five, plus hard-top and soft-top options. There are two engine choices: A turbocharged 2.3-liter I-4 that offers up to 300 horsepower and 325 lb.-ft. of torque (best-in-class) is standard. It pairs with either a 10-speed auto or a 7-speed manual. The optional engine is a 2.7-liter V6 with a twin turbo that produces 330 horsepower and 415 pound-feet of torque, which is also best-in-class. The V6 is available only with the ten-speed automatic transmission.

The manual transmission has six traditional gears, plus a "crawler gear" that has a best-in-class gear ratio of 94.75:1. There are seven Bronco models that include Base, Big Bend, Black Diamond, Outer Banks, Badlands, Wildtrak and a limited First Edition that quickly sold out when order banks opened.

Bronco Features and Styling

The Bronco comes in a staggering number of exclusive color combinations that vary between models. The highly configurable off-roader is designed for both novice and hard-core 4WD experts, with easily removable roof panels, bumper sections and doors that can be stored in the trunk.

Though all-new, the latest Bronco takes its design cues from the proportions, square, boxy looks and flat sides of the original model. Large, open wheel wells are amplified by removeable bolt-on front and rear fenders, while the Bronco's fender flares sport quick-release fasteners to help with customization. Interior appointments vary by model but are designed to appeal to the heart and lifestyle of weekend warriors and 4WD adventurers with durable, with waterproof surfaces, an off-road performance app, and an available 12-inch LCD touchscreen paired with Ford's SYNC4 system touchscreen (an 8-inch is standard), among other communication and audio features. A 12-volt hook-up and USB power connections are at-the-ready to mount cameras, navigation units, phones or other devices.

Bronco First Drive Impressions

We tried out 5 different models during our test drive that began in the urban environment of Austin, TX and took us to Ford's first Off Roadeo 4WD playground in Marble Falls. Our road-going drive was in a 2-door Outer Banks model with the manual transmission. On the plus side, the manual shifts smoothly, and we had the opportunity to use the crawler gear at a local boat launch. On a steep uphill over loose-surface terrain-we found it suitably impressive.

In general, there was good power, plenty of torque, and competent steering that carved the twisty roads with ease. The Bronco offers surprisingly smooth braking, although we'd like the brakes to be a bit "taller" for more aggressive stopping. Notable is the quietness of the cabin and comfort of the seats. Our only complaints were seatbelts that are not height-adjustable and a couple of ergonomics complaints for our 5'2" driver (although Ford is looking into making changes for both!).

We navigated our way through three off-road courses designed by 4WD experts that included rocky terrain, muddy motoring and dirt two-track with up and downhill climbs. We were impressed with Ford's Terrain Management System with G.O.A.T. (goes over any terrain) modes, which allow up to seven driver-selectable settings (Normal, Eco, Sport, Slippery and Sand, plus Baja, Mud/Ruts and Rock Crawl for off-roading). Two 4WD systems include a two-speed electronic shift-on-the-fly transfer case and an optional two-speed electromechanical transfer case with an auto mode for on-demand selection between 2H and 4H. A Dana 44 solid rear axle and Dana independent front differential unit are both available, as electronic locking differentials-provide more grunt. Bead-lock 17-inch wheels compliment aggressive off-road tires.

We also tested the Bronco's Trail Toolbox, which is a suite of off-road technologies that includes Trail Control (cruise control for low-speed trail driving), class-exclusive Trail Turn Assist (tightens off-road turning radiuses through torque vectoring), and Trail One-Pedal Drive (aids in acceleration/braking control for precise and confident low-speed rock crawling).

The Bronco's four-wheel-drive attributes include:

After years of buildup and speculation, the Ford Bronco had to be good, and for the most part it accomplishes that goal. The combination of technology and off-road prowess, combined with a mostly reasonable price tag, should be enough for the Ford to put up serious competition against the Jeep Wrangler and other off-road SUVs.
