The Morgan Motor Company will end production of its 3 Wheeler in 2021, once approval of its S&S V-twin engine finishes. Before that, the company will make a limited number of P101 special editions to commemorate the end of the road.

The special run gets its name from Project 101, a moniker that was given to 3 Wheeler development as the company began reviving the model in the mid-2000s. The Morgan 3 Wheeler P101 is limited to just 33 examples. It was conceived by Morgan's in-house design and engineering departments

The current version of the 3 Wheeler has been one of Morgan's most popular models of all time. The company has created 2,500 of them since the car launched in 2011. It's been exported around the globe.

The 3 Wheeler is a model that harkens back to a simpler time in automotive history. It has a purposeful and utilitarian aesthetic, sits low to the ground, has an open cockpit, is intended for one person to use at a time, and rides on just three wheels.

This P101 version has a single-leaf tonneau cover – first seen on Morgan's EV3 concept in 2016. The composite resin cover has a natural translucent golden color.

The car's Aero-disc wheels are painted to match the main body color offer low drag and work with low-slung Hella 9-inch spot lamps that are positioned to reduce turbulence around the suspension. Two exhaust pipes, one white and one black, are at the back. Additionally, there are torque markers on each front tire, straight-cut exhausts, a fly screen, additional louvres, exposed rivet details, and unique P101 markings.

The list of standard features also includes a flat base steering wheel, rubber floor mats, black soft-grain leather upholstery with twin needle box stitching, and brass 'knock ons'.

Buyers can option their 3 Wheeler P101 in Deep Black or Satin White Silver paint, with decals. Four P101 art packs will be available for customers to choose from:

  • The Belly Tank – Referencing liveries found on belly tank racers and 'lakesters' that were inspirations for the 3 Wheeler initially, The Belly Tank graphic pack features a distressed effect in the vinyl.
  • The Dazzleship – The Dazzleship is the boldest of the art packs. Its striking black and white design is inspired by the graphic camouflage of period military vehicles.
  • The Aviator – Evoking a sense of aviation spirit, The Aviator graphic pack is an extension of similarly themed graphics currently offered on the 3 Wheeler. This art pack is inspired by nose art found on RAF planes in WWII.
  • The Race Car – Three wheeled Morgan vehicles were competing in motorsport almost as soon as the first example was created. The Race Car graphic pack features stripes and roundels, paying homage to the liveries that adorned early Morgan race cars.

The limited-edition P101 starts at £45,000 plus local market taxes and on-the-road costs. All 33 production slots have already been allocated to Morgan dealerships in the UK, Europe and USA. Production of the model will begin immediately and continue alongside 'bespoke' 3 Wheelers during 2021.

Volkswagen nixing Passat after 2022 model year

Racing Green Metallic is one of four exclusive colors for the car.

Volkswagen

After five decades on sale in the U.S., Volkswagen is pulling the plug on the midsize Passat. The explosion of SUVs' popularity and the need to shift production power to electric vehicles are behind the decision, which will take place after the 2022 model year. The cars have been built at the automaker's Chattanooga, TN plant since 2011, but the facility is being repurposed as VW's North American hub for electric vehicle assembly.

Volkswagen is giving the car one last hurrah, however, in the form of the Passat Limited Edition. The car features 18-inch wheels, LED headlights with an Advanced Front Lighting System, and an easy-open trunk. Inside, the cars come with sport seats wrapped in Vienna leather, memory seating, a Fender Premium Audio System, parking assistance, and parking sensors.

Only 1,973 of the cars will be built, and it will only be sold in four colors, each with its own limited production numbers that have special meaning for the Passat:

  • Aurora Red Metallic with Titan Black interior: 411 units to represent the original vehicle production code
  • Racing Green Metallic with Mauro Brown interior: 423 units to commemorate the Chattanooga 423 area code
  • Pure white with Mauro Brown interior: 524 units to signify the Chattanooga plant's May 24 opening date
  • Platinum Great Metallic with Titan Black interior: 615 units to signify six generations of imported Passats, one generation assembled in Chattanooga, and five decades of U.S. sales

Pricing for the 2022 Passat starts at $31,290, which includes a $995 destination fee. Adding Aurora Red Metallic drives the price up by an additional $395. Each car will receive a special number plate to designate its place in the limited production run.

Ram Trucks adds new anniversary edition for 2022

The 2022 Ram 1500 Limited 10th Anniversary Edition gets an exclusive blue paint color.

Ram Trucks

Pickup trucks have long been more than the rugged workhorse vehicles they once were. People buy and use trucks as their everyday vehicles, and automakers have responded by making more spacious, comfortable, and efficient pickups. Nowhere is that more apparent than with Ram, whose 1500 light duty pickup truck carried away award after award when its new generation hit the streets in 2019. In its top trims, the Ram 1500 shames many luxury cars on interior quality, comfort, and technology, but the brand isn't done adding "stuff."

If you needed any confirmation that big, luxurious pickup trucks are here to stay, here it is. Today, Ram Trucks announced the Ram 1500 Limited 10th Anniversary Edition. Beyond having a tongue-twister for a name, the truck is packed to the gills with highbrow materials and features.

To set it apart on the outside, the truck will get an exclusive Blue Shade paint color, along with a multi-function tailgate and adjustable cargo tie-down hooks. Inside, Ram says that the 1500's already impressive interior will be pushed further into premium territory with quilted leather upholstery and door inserts, a suede headliner, and special 10th anniversary badges. The truck's digital gauge cluster and infotainment screen will display unique graphics upon vehicle startup. Capping off the plush cabin, the Anniversary Edition truck will be offered with a new Indigo and Sea Salt Grey interior color and will get a 19-speaker premium audio system.

The 2022 Ram 1500 Limited 10th Anniversary Special Edition is sold only in a crew cab body style. Ram offers the truck with either the 5.7-liter V8 with eTorque or with its 3.0-liter EcoDiesel engine. The new special edition expands the already mammoth Ram 1500 lineup. At the bottom end of the spectrum is the Ram 1500 Tradesman, a stripped-down work truck with only the essentials. From there, there is the Big Horn, the Laramie, the Rebel, the Limited Longhorn, and the Limited. All of that is on top of the Hellcat-powered Ram 1500 TRX and the Ram 1500 Classic, which itself is offered in three trim levels.
