Mercedes-AMG G 63 Cigarette Edition pays homage to longstanding boat racing partnership

A new Mercedes model is fashioned in the same vein as a newly customized Cigarette boat.

The Miami International Boat Show is upon us and among the Honda-powered pontoons and sleek cigarette boats is a one-of-a-kind Mercedes-AMG G 63 Cigarette Edition that is paired with a 59-foot Tirranna AMG Edition boat. AMG Performance Studio in Affalterbach gave the G63 the same design principles as the boat.

"Mercedes-AMG stands for Performance Luxury. The Tirranna AMG Edition is the perfect transfer of this principle to a boat: Its dynamic and at the same time deeply sensual proportions embody athletic beauty. In its powerful, clean look, the boldness of the Mercedes-AMG G 63 can be experienced," said Gorden Wagener, Chief Design Officer Daimler AG.

The latest in a highly exclusive line of special edition boats, the 59' Tirranna AMG Edition sets new standards in terms of performance and design, striking the perfect balance between a luxury yacht and a performance- oriented super console. Despite its 59' length and 14' beam, the Tirranna AMG Edition is extremely agile and optimized for high performance.

When designing their new performance flagship, the Cigarette Racing Team engineers focused their attention on every detail, for example by utilizing lightweight construction in key locations: Its raked hardtop is made completely of carbon fiber, reducing the vertical center of gravity for better handling, while carbon fiber also features throughout its superstructure, with carbon-capped stringers and a carbon-fiber transom. The hull and deck are vacuum infused using a highly optimized composite laminate schedule with PVC coring. The instrument panel is a nano-coated solid surface that is anti-reflective and heat-resistant, which also features titanium fasteners.

The striking design of the 59' Tirranna AMG Edition as well as the Mercedes-AMG G 63 Cigarette Edition is the result of close collaboration between the Cigarette Racing Team, the Mercedes-AMG design team and Gorden Wagener, Chief Design Officer Daimler AG.

While the boat shines on the water, the G 63 shines on land. It has exclusive design finishes and special detailing, which can only be found on this specific model. The all-wheel drive SUV is powered by a 577 horsepower 4.0-liter V8 biturbo engine and has been hand crafted specially to celebrate the debut of the new boat.

"Since 2007, we've shared our passion for performance with the Cigarette Racing Team. For the first time ever we followed a holistic design approach for both – the car and the boat," said Tobias Moers, Chairman of the Board of Management of Mercedes-AMG GmbH. "The Mercedes-AMG G 63 Cigarette Edition is even more individualized than any other car before within our successful cooperation. The exterior and interior of this one of a kind G-Class Edition was tailor-made in our Performance Studio in Affalterbach underlining the high-performance appearance of the Mercedes-AMG G 63."

Starting with a black metallic exterior, designers added a unique golden designed AMG diamond pattern. It rides on new 22-inch Mercedes-AMG cross- spoke forged wheels are highlighted with gold accents at the wheel center caps and at the rim flange. It also has AMG Night Package elements, a dark chrome AMG specific radiator grille and bulbar, side entry boards in matte black, and glossy black vehicle logos.

The model's interior is upholstered in macchiato beige and dark blue two-tone exclusive nappa leather. Its AMG performance steering wheel is carbon fiber with dark blue nappa leather. These two sets of design choices echo those found in the boat. The SUV has unique floor mats and the iconic G-Class grab handle with distinctive Cigarette lettering.

Brand Finance calculates brand value as the "net economic benefit that a brand owner would achieve by licensing the brand inn the open market." The see brand strength as "the efficacy of a brand's performance on intangible measures relative to its competitors."

Not all the companies are your typical car brands. The companies on this list sell trucks, commercial vehicles, scooters, buses, cars, and a host of other vehicles.

For the third consecutive year, Mercedes-Benz is the world's most valuable automobile brand, growing 8 percent to $65 billion. The German brand has been investing strongly in R&D in the anticipation of new trends – particularly electric and autonomous vehicles – as well as implementing innovative new business models, including the recently expanded Mercedes Collection subscription service.

According to Brand Finance's research, its customer service is the best in the business. That, combined with its new and existing model ranges and its excellence in design, is helping keep the brand one step ahead of its main competitor BMW (brand value $40.5 billion).

"Mercedes-Benz has stayed one step ahead of its competitors because of its commitment to service and model development. Despite his departure, Dieter Zetsche has set the brand up for long-term success," said Alex Haigh, Director, Brand Finance.

The refreshed E-Class features a strong stance, modern features, and new styling.

The 2021 Mercedes-Benz E-Class sedan and wagon features all the things you think it will – a high-quality interior, the latest Mercedes tech innovations, and a familiar yet progressive body style. There's also a new variant, the All-Terrain.

The German luxury automaker has given the E-Class redesigned front headlamps (standard full-LED, available multibeam LED), new taillights, and a fresh grille and front bumper. Chrome and gloss black accents play across the exterior of the car.

Mercedes has given the E-Class sedan standard AMG body cladding. It also has a new bumper, split taillamps, and a new trunk lid.

While the E-Class All-Terrain is technically a car, its visual cues are more closely associated with a Mercedes SUV. Its radiator grille and stylized skid plate have a mirror chrome finish.

Mercedes is making three new paint jobs available: Cirrus Silver, Graphite Grey and Mojave Silver. Aero wheels are also now available.

For the first time, the U.S. market will get electrified models. The M265 engine in the E450 is a 3.0-liter six-cylinder gasoline powerplant with a 48-volt electrical system. It achieves 362 horsepower.

The cabin of the E-Class is appropriately luxurious. There are new color combinations including Magma Grey/Neva Grey and Magma Grey/Macchiato Beige, and trim in Natural Grain Grey Ash Wood and an updated version of Burl Walnut Wood.

In front of the driver is a cockpit with two 12.3-inch displays. Voice control is standard and augmented video for navigation is available.

Drivers can pick an interior tone to match their mood. Modern Classic is a classically elegant display, Sport has black and yellow contrasting elements, Progressive has less digital information displayed, and Discreet only shows what information is absolutely necessary.

The 2021 E-Class is available with next-gen driving technology including a new steering wheel that is able to detect if the driver has removed their hands, adaptive cruise control with route-based speed adjustment, stop and go assist, active steering assist, active brake assist, active blind spot assist, and a 360-degree camera.

Mercedes is making the steering wheel available in the buyer's choice of a full leather or a wood-leather combination.

The refreshed E-Class will go on sale in the U.S. this autumn. Pricing has yet to be announced.
