It's technically a boat. It's also technically a Lamborghini. And, it's technologically advanced thanks to a collaboration between The Italian Sea Group and Lamborghini's Centro Stile.

The new Tecnomar for Lamborghini 63 is a limited edition motor yacht that delivers on the precision engineering and looks that make a Lamborghini a Lamborghini. To develop the model, the two companies worked in harmony during several design sessions, taking inspiration from the Lamborghini Sián FKP 37.

The challenge came when reinterpreting the car's aesthetics and putting them into a yacht. Both companies wanted to ensure the high level of performance they've built their reputations on would be upheld while the quality of materials and attention to detail were in line as well.

This yacht represents the significance of creating a valuable partnership, at its best: our co-operation allows the essence of both organisations' style and expertise to be transferred to different worlds, sharing in their diversity to interpret and add value to the final product in a new environment," said Stefano Domenicali, Chairman and CEO of Automobili Lamborghini. "If I had to imagine a Lamborghini on water, this would be my vision. I'm delighted to celebrate this successful collaboration."

"We announced this partnership in May, and today we present Tecnomar for Lamborghini 63, a motor yacht which will became as futuristic an icon as the car she is inspired by," said Giovanni Costantino, CEO of The Italian Sea Group. "Selected owners around the world will own not only the fastest Tecnomar motor yacht in the fleet, but a Tecnomar for Lamborghini 63 masterpiece. I'm proud that we have chosen to create this innovative and challenging project with Automobili Lamborghini, which links technology, supreme design, quality and performance."

The beating hearts of the yacht are two MAN V12-2000 horsepower engines. The boat can reach 60 knots, making it the fastest in the Tecomar fleet. It features carbon fiber, like a Lamborghini, which puts it in the ultra-lightweight boat classification. Despite its 63-foot length, it weighs just 24 tons.

The carbon fibre material, typical of Lamborghini super sports cars, puts this motor yacht firmly in the ultra-lightweight boat classification, with its 63 feet length weighing in at just 24 tons - the weight of 14 Huracáns.

Further design elements evoke the heritage of the Lamborghini brand. According to a release,

"The hull and the superstructure are created from a high-performance shell, developed by naval engineers specializing in hydrodynamic sciences. They interpret the design lines, created by Marcello Gandini in the Miura and the Countach of the 60s and 70s, in a contemporary way. The hard top is inspired by Lamborghini roadsters: providing sun and wind protection while guaranteeing an outstanding aerodynamic performance. The bow lights are an homage to the Lamborghini concept car Terzo Millennio and to the Sián FKP 37, both distinctive for their Y-shaped front lights."

The interior of the boat marries form and function. The hexagonal shapes and straight lines Lamborghini is known for, as well as the Y-motif, are replicated throughout the boat. Buyers will be able to fully customize the colors and materials for their craft in the same manner in which they can do as part of Lamborghini's Ad Personam program.

Exterior colors and livery options are also customizable.

The yacht's instrument panel brings the modernization of car cockpit to a boat, integrating navigation and control systems. Interior details are finished in carbon fiber, natch. Like Lamborghini cars, the yacht has a start-stop button for each engine.

The first boat will be available at the beginning of 2021.

2022 Infiniti QX50 picks up new standard features

The new QX50 gets more tech and safety features.

Infiniti

Infiniti is one of a handful of automakers that have continued developing and building cars instead of focusing only on higher-profit and much more popular SUVs and trucks. That said, Infiniti's catalog is crossover- and SUV-heavy. Its smallest and least expensive crossover, the QX50 gets a handful of new features for 2022, and today Infiniti announced pricing.

Infiniti offers the 2022 QX50 in five trims: $40,025 Pure, $43,375 Luxe, $47,825 Essential, $52,525 Sensory, and $57,975 Autograph. All trims get Infiniti's variable compression (VC-Turbo) engine that makes 268 horsepower and returns up to 26 mpg combined. The advanced engine shifts its compression ratio to match the driver's behavior. When more power is needed, the compression changes, and when efficiency is the priority, it changes again. It's a marvel of engineering, but it's not as fuel-efficient as a hybrid. Power reaches the front or all four wheels through a continuously variable transmission.

Beyond the new standard features for 2022, buyers of the new QX50 will have to step up to the Luxe trim to get the most desirable features such as auto-folding exterior side mirrors, power lumbar support, and perforated leather upholstery. Standard comfort gear includes eight-way power front seats, dual-zone climate controls, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and a Wi-Fi hotspot.

Infiniti stuck with its dual-screen infotainment configuration with the 2022 QX50. The top eight-inch screen handles wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto duties, as well as navigation. The bottom seven-inch screen handles vehicle controls, radio stations, and other settings. Though the system looks great and adds a high-tech feel to the cabin, two screens can be distracting and confusing while driving. The good news is that the QX50 gets an excellent 16-speaker Bose stereo starting with the Luxe trim.

The 2022 QX50 hasn't been crash tested by either major ratings organization yet, but the 2021 model performed well. It earned Good ratings in crash testes and a Superior score for its standard crash prevention systems. The 2022 QX50 comes standard with Infiniti's ProPilot Assist system, which brings advanced adaptive cruise control functions that can center the car in its lane, brake, and accelerate. Other standard tech includes blind spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alerts, rear automatic braking, predictive forward collision warnings, and forward automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection.
