Not so fast: 'F9', next 'Fast & Furious' movie, release postponed until April 2021
Fans will have to wait one more year to see "F9", the latest installment of the "Fast & Furious" franchise. The move was originally slated to be released Memorial Day weekend. Universal Pictures, the studio behind the film, made the call after surveying the global theater landscape and deciding that the Covid-19 epidemic had too greatly impacted the ability for crowds to gather, according to a report by Variety.
On the film's Twitter feed, the production released a statement by franchise star Vinn Diesel that reads, in part, "While we know there is disappointment in having to wait a little while longer, this move is made with the safety of everyone as our foremost consideration,"

In January, Universal Pictures released the first full-length trailer for the film, which was met with enthusiasm by audiences. Its storyline appeared to carry over most of the themes that have made the franchise so popular - fast cars, beautiful landscapes, defeating evil with questionable techniques, and some family drama (including a resurrection).
