Today, General Motors confirmed that a new electric Cadillac Escalade will be coming to a dealership near you by 2025. The news comes as part of an information onslaught GM has put forth this week concerning their electric vehicle future.

The Escalade EV is slated to ride on the same platform as the forthcoming GMC Hummer EV, which will be seen in the flesh for the first time in May.

This isn't too much of an engineering stretch for GM. The two models will likely be about the same size, just like the Chevrolet Suburban, Tahoe, and Silverado 1500 are about the same dimensions as the GMC Yukon and Sierra 1500.

General Motors says that its new Ultium batteries will serve in 800-volt battery packs in that are capable of charging via a Level 2 charger or DC fast charging. They would offer up to 400 miles of range.

It's likely that the Cadillac Escalade EV would be produced at the same plant as the Hummer EV. That model is slated to go into production at the Detroit/Hamtramck assembly plant.

There is no word from Cadillac about whether or not the electric version of the SUV will be available in an extended wheelbase format.

This news comes on top of the announcement that we'll see the first Cadillac EV, the 2021 Cadillac Lyriq in April, presumably at the New York International Auto Show.

The Fiat 500 made a snazzy debut earlier this year and a new film documented the one-off models designed to celebrate the new generation of Italian design.

There's so much more to the auto business than getting a vehicle to a dealership. One of the sides rarely captured in newsreels, but drooled over by fans are restored and modified creations. Heck, SEMA has built an entire convention around it. The MotorTrend network is almost entirely devoted to the cause.

Those mods are usually on existing cars, however. A new film released by Fiat takes a look at how three Fiat 500s were modified before they debuted.

"One-Shot" is the first docufilm by the automaker. It covers a six month journey to create a unique one-off ahead of the debut of the redesigned Fiat 500 earlier this year. The new model is an all-electric car that retains much of the classic Fiat looks but with a completely modern powertrain.

"You never get a second chance to make a good first impression." These words, from Olivier François – President, Fiat Brand Global and FCA Chief Marketing Officer – open the film, explaining how the debut of the New 500 should be considered as a milestone in the brand's history.

The documentary is dedicated to the three cars designed by high-end brands - Armani, Bvlgari, and Kartell. Armani is a fashion house, Bvlgari is a jewelry company, and Kartell sells contemporary furniture.

Filmmakers take the viewer on a journey from the moment the company representatives first met with Fiat in Turin through the launch of the three exclusive cars in Milan earlier this year.

The new 500 has a more aggressive exterior that's less bulbous but still retains many fo the design characteristics of the 500 of years past. It has a range of approximately 199 miles (WLTP). Fiat has given the car three drive modes: Normal, Range and Sherpa. The Range drive mode allows for one-pedal driving.

The 500 is the first Fiat to receive FCA's new UConnect 5 system, which is compatible with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and wireless communication. It comes equipped with a 10.25-inch touch screen.

Officially, the decision on whether or not to bring the new Fiat 500 to U.S. shores is still up in the air.

Lexus is teasing the forthcoming debut of the 2021 IS.

On June 9, Lexus will reveal its redesigned IS sedan. The IS had been scheduled to be unveiled at the New York International Auto Show in April but that show was postponed, then cancelled, due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Today, the luxury arm of Toyota distributed a teaser image of the new car.

The IS is the smallest of the three Lexus sedans offered for sale in the U.S. It slots below the ES and LS, but is larger than the Lexus RC, a two-door sports coupe.

Lexus has sold the luxury sports car since 1999.Though the car has often bee positioned as sporty, it usually only hits those notes when compared to the Lexus ES. If rumors are to be believed, the next-generation IS will be sportier than the last. How? That remains, for now, largely unseen.

Speculation has mounted saying that the car could have the powerful V8 engine that is found in the 2020 Lexus RC F. However, it's more than likely we'll see a four-cylinder base engine (possibly electrified). If Lexus was to present a hybrid powertrain, it might choose to go the same route its sister company Toyota did with the 2021 Toyota RAV4 Prime, delivering the sportiest model with the highest amount of horsepower as a plug-in hybrid.

There's likely to be a 2021 Lexus IS F-Sport variant as well. F-Sport models traditionally get a tuning upgrade and sportier features like larger, intricate wheels and sport seats. These models typically retail for thousands more than the base model.

The teaser image distributed by the automaker reveals a new company rear light signature that spans the width of the entire backside of the car connecting the taillights. Adjusting the brightness on the image in Photoshop reveals a body that is more athletic than the previous generation and has a rear diffuser.

Turn up brightness on the shadows and vertical rear lights are revealed, pointing to where dual exhaust pipes might be. The fenders become more pronounced and the grounded look of the car becomes more evident.

Stay tuned for more insight when the car is unveiled on June 9.
