General Motors has confirmed that an all-electric Escalade is in the works.

Today, General Motors confirmed that a new electric Cadillac Escalade will be coming to a dealership near you by 2025. The news comes as part of an information onslaught GM has put forth this week concerning their electric vehicle future.

The Escalade EV is slated to ride on the same platform as the forthcoming GMC Hummer EV, which will be seen in the flesh for the first time in May.

This isn’t too much of an engineering stretch for GM. The two models will likely be about the same size, just like the Chevrolet Suburban, Tahoe, and Silverado 1500 are about the same dimensions as the GMC Yukon and Sierra 1500.

General Motors says that its new Ultium batteries will serve in 800-volt battery packs in that are capable of charging via a Level 2 charger or DC fast charging. They would offer up to 400 miles of range.

It’s likely that the Cadillac Escalade EV would be produced at the same plant as the Hummer EV. That model is slated to go into production at the Detroit/Hamtramck assembly plant.

There is no word from Cadillac about whether or not the electric version of the SUV will be available in an extended wheelbase format.

This news comes on top of the announcement that we’ll see the first Cadillac EV, the 2021 Cadillac Lyriq in April, presumably at the New York International Auto Show.
