Cadillac adding electric Escalade to lineup by 2025

General Motors has confirmed that an all-electric Escalade is in the works.

Today, General Motors confirmed that a new electric Cadillac Escalade will be coming to a dealership near you by 2025. The news comes as part of an information onslaught GM has put forth this week concerning their electric vehicle future.

The Escalade EV is slated to ride on the same platform as the forthcoming GMC Hummer EV, which will be seen in the flesh for the first time in May.

This isn't too much of an engineering stretch for GM. The two models will likely be about the same size, just like the Chevrolet Suburban, Tahoe, and Silverado 1500 are about the same dimensions as the GMC Yukon and Sierra 1500.

General Motors says that its new Ultium batteries will serve in 800-volt battery packs in that are capable of charging via a Level 2 charger or DC fast charging. They would offer up to 400 miles of range.

It's likely that the Cadillac Escalade EV would be produced at the same plant as the Hummer EV. That model is slated to go into production at the Detroit/Hamtramck assembly plant.

There is no word from Cadillac about whether or not the electric version of the SUV will be available in an extended wheelbase format.

This news comes on top of the announcement that we'll see the first Cadillac EV, the 2021 Cadillac Lyriq in April, presumably at the New York International Auto Show.

The Hispano Suiza Carmen Boulogne is an all-electric hypercar

The Hispano Suiza brand has been around for more than a century. Now primarily known as an aerospace company, the automotive side of the business is attempting a revival, first with the Carmen's introduction and now with the Carmen Boulogne, a sportier take on the Carmen.

The Carmen Boulogne is a fully electric and exclusive hypercar that was designed, developed, and manufactured in Barcelona, Spain. The company will create just five examples for sale.

Its name origin stretches back to 1921 when Hispano Suiza made a racing version of its high-performance H6 Coupé and entered it in the George Boillot Cup, an endurance race lasting more than 3.5 hours around the French city of Boulogne. Hispano Suiza took the win at the race in 1921, 1922, and 1923.

The Hispano Suiza Carmen Boulogne delivers 1,098 horsepower and has an electronically limited maximum speed of 180 mph. The car can get form zero to 60 mph in 2.6 seconds and weighs 3,593 pounds. Its weight is 60 pounds less than the traditional Carmen, a number that was achieved by changing out traditional structural elements for a carbon fiber subframe, among other parts. Additionally, the entire body of the car is carbon fiber.

The car's 80 kilowatt hour battery gives it a driving range of up to 248 miles. That's similar to the range of the 2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E. Its battery is designed and produced in-house, and has fast-charging capability of more than 80 kilowatts, taking just 30 minutes to charge from 30 to 80 percent via a CCS2 fast charger. It also has CHAdeMO and GB/T charging options.

Each rear wheel of the car has two permanent-magnet synchronous motors. The torque deliver of each motor is controlled through a vectoring system honed by experience in Formula E racing. Off the line through 6,500 rpm, the car is capable of reaching 1,180 pound-feet of torque.

The face of the car has the same semi-circular headlights and scowl as the Carmen, with the difference of a copper-colored grille. Buyers can customize their model to include either suede or black Alcantara on the dashboard and door panels.

The price of the Hispano Suiza Carmen Boulogne starts at $2 million USD, and its manufacturing process requires approximately twelve month of lead time.

The five units of the Carmen Boulogne hypercar join the 14 units of the Carmen to reach a total of 19 units in production, with the first unit ready to be delivered in 2022.

The 488 GT Modificata is the newest addition to the Ferrari lineup.

The new, limited edition Ferrari 488 GT Modificata takes its technology from the 288 GT3 and 488 GTE, the pushes to achieve its full athletic potential. That potential is exclusively for use during track days and at Ferrari Club Competizioni GT events.

The Ferrari 488 GT Modificata takes its name from the Ferrari jargon meaning better performance. It takes its prowess from the genes of the 488 GT3 and the 488 GTE. It also has new technologies, mainly linked to the powertrain, that are no longer limited by the FIA Balance of Performance.

The 488 GTE competes in the World Endurance Championship. Ferrari calls the 488 GT3 the "queen of GT racing". The 488 GT3 has delivered 350 wins and 630 podiums at national and international races as well as the FIA World Endurance Championship Drivers', Teams' and Manufacturers' titles. The 488 GTE has won the 24 Hours of Le Mans and the Petit Le Mans. Ferrari tuned the new model at the Nordschleife.

It's powered by a twin-turbo V8 that delivers 690 horsepower. Ferrari says that it does all that by utilizing new high-performance mapping that doesn't compromise the car's predicted reliability. The car's gearbox is available with different transmission ratios. The clutch is made of carbon fiber.

Ferrari has given the car unique high-downforce aerodynamics that shift the position of the car forward. This positioning generates higher downforce without increasing drag, allowing the model to be more efficient than its racing counterparts. The car has downforce of over 2,204 pounds at 142 mph.

The car's body is made almost entirely of carbon fiber. It has an aluminum roof and uprights.

Ferrari has given the 488 GT Modificata the 488 GTW's suspension. The braking system was developed in partnership with Brembo and features low residual torque calipers that are fitted to world championship cars. Its antilock brake system comes from the 488 GT3 Evo 2020, with specific settings.

Each model comes standard with a V-Boz acquisition system, which combines with Bosch's telemetry data acquisition system and allows data to be downloaded directly onto a USB stick.

A high-resolution rearview camera is also standard.

Customers will be able to nearly fully customize their 488 GT Modificata. It will initially only be for drivers who, in recent years, have participated in Competizioni GT with Ferrari or Club Competizioni GT.

The 488 GT Modificata will be admitted to Club Competizioni GT events. In 2021, customers will have the chance to participate in five events at tracks including Virginia International Raceway, Monza, Watkins Glen, Suzuka, Nurburgring, and Finali Mondiali.
