Passenger cars have been losing ground to SUVs and trucks in the United States for years, but that hasn't stopped some automakers from continuing to build compelling, fun-to-drive coupes and sedans. Kia is among them, and has just announced a new addition to its Stinger lineup for 2022. The fastback sedan will still offer blazing performance from either a turbocharged four-cylinder or twin-turbocharged six-cylinder engine, but will also be available with a special edition package that adds unique exterior styling and interior trim pieces.

The Scorpion Special Edition will be limited to just 250 units per month and will only be available to customers in the United States. Kia says the package is expected to sell out quickly, and notes that it will be available for the Stinger GT2 RWD and AWD. The package will be offered in Snow White Pearl, Aurora Black, and Ceramic Silver paint colors.

The 2022 Stinger got several other meaningful updates to keep it fresh. They include a new LED exterior lighting scheme, geometric alloy wheels, and a sportier quad exhaust system. Kia also added a new GT-Line trim, which gets a turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine that make 300 horsepower and 311 pound-feet of torque. The GT trim that can be equipped with the Scorpion package gets a twin-turbo 3.3-liter V6 that get a bump in power to 368 ponies and 375 pound-feet of torque. Power hits the rear or all four wheels through an eight-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters.

The Stinger can match its bark with some real bite, but it also happens to be a spacious, comfortable sedan with plenty to like inside. The car gets a standard 10.25-inch infotainment touchscreen, navigation, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a multi-device Bluetooth system, wireless charging, and more. The Scorpion Edition adds carbon fiber pattern trim pieces throughout the cabin.

The 2022 Kia Stinger is on sale now. The base GT-Line trim starts at $37,135, which includes a $1,045 destination charge. The Stinger GT1 starts at $44,735 and the GT2 trim starts at $52,335. Adding the Scorpion Package to the GT2 model bumps the price by $1,295.

The next-gen Infiniti QX60 is almost here. The long-awaited successor to the top-selling Infiniti model has been in the works for a while but the first official glimpse at the SUV happens today with the release of a teaser photo and video of the interior.

Billed as being "serene" and "spacious", the family-friendly crossover will retain its three rows of seating when it arrives stateside. It will also have premium leather appointments, intuitive technology, and ambient lighting, according to a release sent by the company.

The model was first teased in a private video shown to journalists in the autumn of 2019. Since there, a number of changes have been made. The fresh images show off a wide but not tall infotainment screen, similar to what you'd find on a Lexus or Hyundai. There's what appears to be a fully digital radio/climate controls screen on the center stack with physical dials for adjusting certain functionalities.

There's a quilted leather dashboard and long horizontal design feature that seamlessly covers the dashboard vents under one housing. Though not shown, the QX60 is expected to have a fully digital instrument cluster.

Infiniti has already divulged a few key details about the revised QX60. It will be powered by a 295-horsepower 3.5-liter V6 engine that is paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission. That's the same power plant that is in the 2022 Nissan Pathfinder. The SUV will be available with all-wheel drive. It's likely that the QX60 will have drive modes similar to those in the Pathfinder.

The model will have a 6,000-pound maximum towing capacity. A 3,500-pound maximum is standard.

Infiniti is promising a Sports drive mode where the movement, power, and control of the car are said to be similar to those in a sports car. Gears are held longer and engine braking helps along the way.

The 2022 Infiniti QX60 is expected to arrive in North American showrooms in the fall of 2021, followed by other markets worldwide. It will debut June 23.

The 2022 Kia EV6 made its grand entrance to the North American market tonight.

In March, Automotive Map reported on Kia's brand-new EV6, the automaker's first dedicated battery electric vehicle. During a flashy event held in Times Square last night, Kia officially debuted the vehicle, and announced that the EV6 marks the beginning of its Plan S strategy in the United States. The roadmap will bring 11 all-new, all-electric models to the brand's lineup over the next five years.

If you've been waiting for an innovative new mass-market EV, get ready to make your reservation. In a first for the brand, the EV6 First Edition will be available by advanced reservation starting June 3 at Kia.com. Similar to the approach taken by several automakers with recent releases of desirable new models, Kia will limit the number of First Edition units to just 1,500 and will offer exclusive features for the configuration.

The loaded First Edition will be powered by a dual-motor all-wheel drive system and a 77.4 kWh battery, and will get an augmented reality head-up display, a 14-speaker Meridian stereo, 20-inch wheels, and a remote smart parking system.

The E-GMP platform that the EV6 is built on can facilitate the development of sedans, CUVs, and SUVs. Similar to the skateboard platforms used by other brands, E-GMP will allow Kia to swap in various components and body styles without the need to redevelop the underlying architecture each time. The automaker says that the platform also offers the ability to expand wheelbase and track width for different vehicle applications.

That platform also underpins the new Hyundai Ioniq 5, an all-electric crossover that delivers similar power to the EV6 but with different interior and exterior design. Expect the similarly sized models to have different turning when they reach a dealership near you as the two companies, which share common Hyundai Motor Group ownership, work to make them individually appealingly their particular consumer base.

Kia hasn't divulged pricing or exact release date details yet, but we know that the first EV6 models will hit dealers' lots in early 2022 across the U.S. The high-performance GT model is slated to land in late 2022.
