2022 IS 500 F Sport Performance Launch Edition gets 472-hp V8 and a lot of premium add-ons

The 2022 Lexus IS 500 F Sport Performance Launch Edition will be the first Lexus IS 500 F Sport Performance out of the gate.

The first 2022 Lexus IS 500 F Sport Performance model out of the gate will wear the Launch Edition badge and come loaded with a host of premium features on top if the rip-roaring V8 that it has under the hood.

The 2022 Lexus IS F Sport Performance Launch Edition, whose name is isn't also long as the 2020 Land Rover Range Rover Velar SVAutobiography Dynamic Edition moniker but close, only will have 500 serialized units produced. It will be sold exclusively in North America.

For its TBD MSRP, buyers get the same 5.0-liter V8 engine that's in the IS 500 and generates 472 horsepower and 395 pound-feet of torque. The muscle car rides on 19-inch split-seven-spoke forged alloy Matte Black BBS wheels from the IS F Sport Dynamic Handling Package. The wheels are each four pounds lighter than the traditional 19-inch IS F Sport wheels.

Buyers don't get a paint color choice on the model. They'll all have an Incognito paint job, which looks similar to Audi's Nardo Gray. Incognito is a new color for the Lexus lineup.

The cabin of the Launch Edition model features two-tone black and gray Ultrasuede-trimmed front and rear seats, door accents, and center console. The car's leather-wrapped steering wheel has a silver ash wood treatment with black F Sport Performance badging.

Each model has a serialized Launch Edition badge showcasing its exclusivity.

When drivers turn on their car, a Launch Edition-specific animation features on the F Sport combination instrument cluster.

The car's MSRP and available options are not yet public information. Those are expected closer to the car's launch date.

Cadillac teased an ultra-powerful Escalade-V a while back, and now we have all the details. The 2023 SUV will feature a supercharged 6.2-liter V8, plenty of luxury, and a stout six-figure price tag.

The 2023 Escalade-V comes with a supercharged 6.2-liter V8 that makes 682 horsepower and 653 pound-feet of torque. It features a hand-built design and shares much of its underlying engineering with the CT5-V Blackwing. It's paired with a ten-speed automatic transmission and full-time active four-wheel drive.

Cadillac gives every Escalade-V air ride adaptive suspension and magnetic ride control. The driver can customize the suspension and feel using the SUV's selectable driving modes. The system can also raise or lower the ride height by to .8 inches, and the SUV comes with a launch control system that helps it get off the line with explosive speed.

Inside, the Escalade-V builds on the top trim of the standard SUV with zebra wood accents, massaging front seats, and a heated steering wheel. It's got the same amazing tech, too, with a curved OLED display that runs the length of the dash, navigation, voice commands, wireless Apple Carplay and Android Auto, an augmented reality navigation system, and a 36-speaker AKG Studio stereo. Cadillac Super Cruise is available.

2022 Lexus NX earns Top Safety Pick +

The 2022 NX earned a Top Safety Pick + award.

The redesigned 2022 Lexus NX just got its crash test scores, and they're strong. The new crossover picked up a Top Safety Pick + award from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), the agency's top award. It's the NX's fourth consecutive Top Safety Pick + award, and before that the vehicle earned Top Safety Picks.

The 2022 NX picked up top scores in testing, earning a "Good" rating in all crash-test categories, a "Good" score for headlights, "Superior" scores for both vehicle-to-vehicle and vehicle-to-pedestrian crash prevention, and a "Good+" score for LATCH system ease of use. Though the 2021 model also picked up a Top Safety Pick + award, it scored lower for its car seat anchors.

Lexus offers the new NX with a whopping four propulsion options, including a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine making 203 horsepower, a 2.4-liter turbocharged four-cylinder with 275 horsepower, a 2.5-liter hybrid with 239 horsepower and a plug-in hybrid powertrain with 302 horsepower. The two gas engines come paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission and either front- or all-wheel drive, while the two hybrids both get all-wheel drive.

Pricing for the 2022 NX starts at $39,025 for the base NX250. Moving up the line, the NX350h starts at $42,125 and the NX450h+ starts at $56,725.
