The Ioniq 5 is the first vehicle to be produced under Hyundai Motor Group’s new branding strategy for electric vehicles. Ahead of its debut on February 23, the automaker has released two pictures of the interior of the car that show off its fresh, modern, high-tech design.

“IONIQ 5 is a statement of design that offers an optimistic look at what customers can expect in the new EV era,” said SangYup Lee, Senior Vice President and Head of Hyundai Global Design Centre. “The long wheelbase is translated to a new dimension of space. We designed this special space as a perfect place to recharge – your home away from home.”

Like the Nissan Ariya and Tesla Model 3, the Ioniq 5 appears to have a minimalistic interior. Instead of the Tesla way of doing business with one large central screen, the 5 has a large centrally located screen with multiple screen faces while piano black-faced buttons for climate controls, infotainment system main pages, a volume knob for volume control, and a radio station tuning scrolling control make up the area below the screen at the center of the dashboard. An ignition button is visible on the left of the climate controls.

Some features of the interior cannot be seen in the photos but are described in a release provided by the company. The car has been designed so that its driver and passengers can “freely enter and exit the cabin on either side when parked in a narrow spot, because the flat floor allows the centre console to slide back and forth.” They’re calling it the ‘Universal Island’, and it replaces the traditional console.

Two cup holders are prominently placed in the center console with a split between the head unit and the console that is very much like the Chrysler Pacifica‘s. A multi-layer console storage space and arm rest splits the front seat passengers from each other.

Zero-Gravity seats have leg rests and appear to be edged with a leather-like material and have cloth inserts. Hyundai says that the vehicle is appointed with sustainable materials and textiles. According to the automaker, “The seats are clad in an eco-processed leather that is dyed and treated with plant oil extractions from flaxseed. Other soft furnishings throughout the cabin consist of textiles derived from sustainable fibers such as sugar cane bio components, wool and poly yarns, as well as material woven from fibers made from recycled PET plastic bottles.”

The wheel, which features contrasting stitching, also has contains flat controls and some buttons. The windshield wipers stick sets to the back right of the wheel while a gear selector stick sits below that. Surfaces including the dashboard, switches, steering wheel, and door panels are coated in a polyurethane bio paint composed of oils from rape flowers and corn.

A special edition Project 45 launch model of the Ioniq 5 will be available on a first-come, first-served basis following the world premiere. There’s a catch. The model is only available in the U.K. and other select European cities.
