U.S.-bound 2022 Genesis GV70 features revealed, includes a fingerprint authentication
The cat was out of the proverbial bag in October when the 2022 Genesis GV70 small SUV debuted with limited fanfare. Now, U.S. audiences are learning more about the equipment and features the model will have when it comes to America.
Like the sedans and SUV already in the Genesis lineup, the GV70 features the company's crest grille at the front. The grille takes it shape from the Genesis logo. On this model, it's set lower than on the GV80, and below the Quad Lamp headlights to give the GV70 the look of a sporty crossover.
Muscular rear fenders and a coupe-like roofline give the GV70 an athletic appearance. There's a chrome line to the C-pillar to accentuate the sportiness and exude a sense of elegance.
Quad Lamp taillights are set into the bumper, which also features a G-Matrix pattern applied to it. The Muffler is vertical-shaped and the SUV features a body-colored diffuser.
Genesis will sell models with a Sport Package, dubbed the GV70 Sport. This version of the SUV has an exclusive front bumper, 21-inch G-Matrix pattern-applied wheels, dark chrome garnishes, and a large diameter exhaust. The Sport model's interior features exclusive colors and trim, including a sport steering wheel and carbon-fiber appointed consoles and doors.
The SUV features a dial Shift By Wire system that connects to the buyer's choice of a turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine or a twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter V6. Drivers will have four drive modes to choose from in the model: Eco, Comfort, Sport, and Custom. Sport Package models also come with a Sport Plus mode.
Designers have give the interior of the GV70 a simple layout that relays a feeling of sportiness to passengers. Its aesthetic was inspired by aircraft wings and features slim air vents and long chrome line across the dash accenting the width of the car.
The modernist approach minimizes the number of buttons on the center console. There is a Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) touch screen at the center of the dashboard. The SUC will feature a number of unique technologies including a fingerprint authentication system and Advanced Rear Occupant Alert, which uses a more sophisticated sensor technique that is able to sense even the smallest movements including respiratory actions.
Genesis has revealed that the crossover will come with a number of advanced safety technologies including Highway Driving Assist II, which controls the steering wheel while changing lanes and actively response to close-range low-speed cut-ins. This technology takes Highway Driving Assist further allowing vehicles to change lanes in certain conditions simply by activating the turn signal.
Intelligent Speed Limit Assist (controls the vehicle to not go above the posted speed limit), navigation-based adaptive smart control (reduces speed when a curve is upcoming), forward collision avoidance assist, blind spot collision avoidance assist, and driver attention warning.
