A more aggressive body design is on tap for the 2022 Buick Enclave. The model, which has undergone a complete redesign, was shown this week ahead of a full debut.

The body of the 2022 Enclave features piercing LED headlights with an LED light signature. Fog lights dominate the lower front fascia while the clamshell of the hood closes further down the face, presumably to enhance aerodynamics. Sculputed body panels emphasize the length and stance of the three-row SUV.

Hard plastic, which typically serves as a sensor panel for safety technology, is not shown on the grille of this model, meaning that the technology may continue to be concealed in the Buick's front emblem.

Chrome accents feature heavily on the Enclave, which is shown in the top-tier Avenir trim level. The model also wears a new wheel design.

New taillight design goes further to emphasize the width of the seven-seat Enclave.

Engine and transmission information has yet to be revealed. The 2021 Enclave comes standard with front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive is available. Buick has made the 2021 model capable of towing up to 5,000 pounds. It is expected that the 2022 model will follow in those footsteps.

Though not shown in the photos released by Buick, the Enclave is expected to have a more refined interior. It's not unreasonable to assume that they model will include the over 10-inch infotainment touch screen that made its debut in the 2021 Buick Envision, as well as diamond-quilted leather upholstery, massaging seat functionality, and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

It's also possible that the model will get GM's Super Cruise hands-free driving functionality, which is being expanded throughout the lineup.

Pricing for the model has yet to be announced. The 2021 Enclave is listed with a starting MSRP of $41,195 with the destination and delivery charging included and tops out just over $57,000.

The 2022 Buick Enclave will go on sale later this year.

GM outlines huge investment in new EV production

The $7 billion number is GM's largest single investment to date.

General Motors

Automakers are not shy about their plans to electrify their vehicle lineups. In fact, it's just the opposite, as most can't wait to release a media kit that sings the virtues of moving toward electrification and outlines their commitments to investing billions to make the move a reality. General Motors has been more active than most, building new facilities and revamping existing factories to handle new-age EV manufacturing. Today, the auto giant announced a further investment to build a new plant and overhaul the Orion Township facility in Michigan. The move creates thousands of jobs and positions GM as an early powerhouse in the EV race.

The $7 billion investment is slated for four Michigan manufacturing facilities. GM says the move will create 4,000 new jobs and retain 1,000 existing positions, and notes that the amount represents the single largest investment in company history. A new Ultium Cells battery plant in Lansing is part of the deal, along with the conversion of the GM assembly planting Orion Township. Orion will eventually house production of the upcoming Chevrolet Silverado EV and the electric GMC Sierra, making it the second of GM's facilities dedicated to building electric pickup trucks.

The Orion and Ultium Cells Lansing facilities will help GM boost its total full-size electric truck production to 600,000 units per year when both Factory Zero and Orion are in full swing. Though Ford sells more full-size trucks than Chevy or GMC individually, GM notes that the two combined move more trucks per year than The Blue Oval. The two plants join General Motors' existing EV-ready facilities that include Factory Zero in Detroit-Hamtramck, Spring Hill Assemble in Tennessee, CAMI in Ontario, and the Ramos Arizpe Assembly facility in Mexico.

The new Civic Hatchback just went on sale.

Honda

The Honda Civic is one of the most popular and well-known cars of any type. Honda keeps refining the Civic formula to the point that it seems hard for the car to get any better, but that's what we're here to talk about. The 2022 model year sees the Civic enter its eleventh generation, and updates for the new model year make the car more upscale, more refined, and safer than ever before. Honda released the Civic Sedan first, but the Hatchback is now on the streets. Both cars are excellent, but we want to take a closer look at the 2022 Honda Civic Hatchback. Here are three things to know about the car.

Cargo Space

Looking at the Civic Hatchback, or any modern Civic for that matter, it's easy to start believing that there's nothing to it - that you can't use it as a proper family car. That isn't the case here, nor is it the case with the 2022 Civic Sedan. The Hatchback starts with 24.5 cubic feet of cargo space behind the second-row seats, and the rear bench folds flat to open up even more room for gear. That's shy of a compact crossover, but better than many subcompact crossovers - and the Civic is infinitely more fun to drive than either. The Honda CR-V, for example, offers 37.6 cubic feet of space behind the second-row seats, but the subcompact HR-V offers just 23.2 cubic feet of space. I know which vehicle I'd rather drive, and it's the Civic Hatchback by miles and miles.

Refinement and Design

Honda's redesign of the Civic started with the Sedan, which released first. Its interior carries premium feeling materials and a grown-up design that is at odds with the Civic's reasonable price tag. There are several clever design touches like a singular metal grille that runs the length of the dash. The front air vents are concealed behind it and feature thoughtfully designed control knobs. It's a detail that isn't seen in other cars at this price point, and it's one that elevates the Civic from a budget car to one that feels special.

Safety Features and Crash Test Scores

The Honda Civic Sedan and Hatchback both earned Top Safety Pick + awards from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). Vehicles earn the honor by scoring "Good," "Advanced," or "Superior" in all categories, including headlights. On top of that, Honda equips the cars with plenty of advanced driver aids, including forward collision warnings, lane departure warnings, collision mitigation braking, and road departure mitigation. Blind spot monitoring and adaptive cruise control are available in higher trims.
