2020 Honda Civic Type-R gets revised suspension, new brakes, fresh styling

The Honda Civic Type-R has gotten some enhancements for the 2020 model year.

Honda's most race-ready version of the Civic is getting a makeover for the 2020 model year designed to help improve its driving dynamics and keep up with the market's technology trends.

Changes start at the front where the model has gotten a larger grille opening and improved engine cooling. The 2020 Type-R will be available in an exclusive Boost Blue paint color.

The car has new two-piece brake rotors and brake pads designed to allow for more efficient braking. The dampers have been updated for better ride comfort and stiffer rear bearings allow for better grip. The front suspension has been modified to reduce friction resulting in better steering feel.

In the cabin is a new Alcatara-wrapped steering wheel. The Type-R's shifter and knob have been restyled resulting in shorter throws.

Honda has added the Honda Sensing suite of safety and driver assistance technology to the Type-R, as it has with all Civic models and trim levels.

Additional information about the U.S.-spec 2020 Honda Civic Type R will be available closer to its on-sale date later this year.

Honda is pledging at least $1 million in donations as it kicks off charitable spending in the era of COVID-19.

Honda is committing $1 million to food banks and meal programs across the United States, Canada and Mexico in communities that are most vulnerable for food access during the COVID-19 pandemic. The automaker is also matching up to $1,000 for each individual gift that Honda employees make that benefit their local communities.

"We are focusing our societal response on three vital and immediate human needs," said Rick Schostek, Executive Vice President of Honda North America, Inc. "We are addressing food insecurity at a time when many families are struggling, investigating the potential to use our manufacturing know-how to produce medical equipment to help those battling COVID-19, and deploying our associate 'virtual volunteers,' to help people in need."

In addition to the $1 million dollar pledge to address food insecurity, Honda's response includes a number of activities to support community and government efforts aimed at combatting the COVID-19 pandemic:

  • Inventoried our stocks of Personal Protective Equipment at our North American facilities and have donated much of this equipment, including N95 face masks, to support frontline healthcare providers.
  • Deploying our 3-D printers to manufacture visors for protective face shields that will be used by medical providers. And we continue investigating the ability to meet critical manufacturing needs related to medical equipment, including partnering with other companies.
  • Engaging and empowering Honda associates throughout North America while at home, to serve as "virtual volunteers," to help non-profits and people in need in their local communities while respecting the requirements of social distancing. This will include reaching out to many of its nonprofit partners to assess their needs and determine opportunities to support them with virtual tasks at a time when nonprofit resources are stretched.
  • Offering payment extensions and deferrals, as well as late fee waivers for existing Honda and Acura finance customers impacted by the pandemic, and a 90-day deferred payment to qualified customers for new vehicle sales that are financed by Honda and Acura Financial Services.

Honda recently changed the business plans for their plants in North America in response to the coronavirus crisis.

The Honda Insight is mostly unchanged from the 2020 model year.

The 2021 Honda Insight is mostly unchanged from the 2020 model year. However, there are a few notable improvements.

Honda is making blind spot monitoring and cross traffic monitoring technology available in the low-cost model. The car will also come in a new paint color - Radiant Red Metallic.

It retains its size, fitting between the Civic and Accord in the Honda lineup, with a focus on budget-friendly fuel efficiency rather than creature comforts and family friendliness.

The Insight continues to have best-in-class passenger space and a high fuel economy rating.

All models come standard with LED headlights, push-button start, and the Honda Sensing suite of safety and driver assistance technology.

The mid-grade Insight EX comes standard with an 8-inch infotainment touch screen, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto. The top-tier model gains leather seating surfaces, an 8-way power driver's seat, Honda Satellite-Linked Navigation System, dual-zone automatic climate control, and more.

Honda has priced the 2021 Insight starting at $22,930 for the base LX model. The Insight EX starts at $24,810 while the Insight Touring is priced at $28,840. All models carry a $955 destination and handling charge.
