The 2020 Alfa Romeo 4C Spider Stradale Tribute is a new take on the two-seater sports coupe that pays tribute to one of the brand's most most legendary mid-engine sports cars, the 1967 Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale.

The 33 Stradale made its public debut at the Monza circuit on August 31, 1967, on the eve of the 1967 Formula One Italian Grand Prix. It was a road-ready, hand-built vehicle with a top speed of 162 mph that was designed by famed car designer Franco Scaglione, who had a hand in many iconic Alfa designs. Just 18 of the models were ever produced with the majority completed in Alfa's signature red paint color with gray-gold wheels and black-and-tobacco interior.

The 4C Spider Stradale Tribute takes many of the design hallmarks of the 33 Stradale and blends them into the modern automobile. It will come exclusively in a Rosso Villa d'Este tri-coat exterior color and have gray-gold five-hole alloy wheels (18 inches in the front and 19-inches in the rear). The car's composite sort seats are covered in black Dinamica suede and tobacco-colored leather.

In front of the driver is a dedicated plaque marking the special edition's name. Similar plaques are featured on the side sills and center console. Each plaque features the car's individual number. The car also has "Centro Stile Alfa Romeo" exterior badges.

Each model comes with the 4C's six-speed twin-clutch transmission and all-aluminum 1750cc turbocharged engine. The power plant produces 237 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque, a significant amount for a vehicle that weighs less than 2,500 pounds. It gets from zero to 60 mph in 4.1 seconds and has a top speed of 160 mph.

The car comes with a host of equipment that is traditionally offered as costly add-ons for buyers including an Akrapovic dual-mode center-mounted exhaust, race-tuned suspension, bi-xenon headlamps, battery charger, car cover, suede/leather seats and carbon fiber halo, rear wing, and Italian flag mirror caps. A piano-black front air intake and rear diffuser are available.

Customers also get treated to a matching, numbered book designed by Centro Stile (Alfa Romeo's design center) that chronicles the 4C's design concept, technology, materials, and Modena assembly facility as well as the history of the 33 Stradale.

"Since its introduction in 2014, the 4C has been a halo vehicle for Alfa Romeo, exciting enthusiasts around the world and spearheading the relaunch of the brand in North America," said Tim Kuniskis, Global Head of Alfa Romeo. "The 4C Spider 33 Stradale Tributo is an instant Alfa Romeo classic that passes the torch to the next generation of iconic Alfa Romeo vehicles, including the upcoming Tonale PHEV crossover that will start production next year."

Just 33 of the limited edition models will be made for the North American market. The car will be available at select dealers with a starting MSRP of $79,995, excluding the destination charge. The 2020 Alfa Romeo 4C Spider 33 Stradale Tributo marks the final production run of the 4C Spider for North America.

Volkswagen nixing Passat after 2022 model year

Racing Green Metallic is one of four exclusive colors for the car.

Volkswagen

After five decades on sale in the U.S., Volkswagen is pulling the plug on the midsize Passat. The explosion of SUVs' popularity and the need to shift production power to electric vehicles are behind the decision, which will take place after the 2022 model year. The cars have been built at the automaker's Chattanooga, TN plant since 2011, but the facility is being repurposed as VW's North American hub for electric vehicle assembly.

Volkswagen is giving the car one last hurrah, however, in the form of the Passat Limited Edition. The car features 18-inch wheels, LED headlights with an Advanced Front Lighting System, and an easy-open trunk. Inside, the cars come with sport seats wrapped in Vienna leather, memory seating, a Fender Premium Audio System, parking assistance, and parking sensors.

Only 1,973 of the cars will be built, and it will only be sold in four colors, each with its own limited production numbers that have special meaning for the Passat:

  • Aurora Red Metallic with Titan Black interior: 411 units to represent the original vehicle production code
  • Racing Green Metallic with Mauro Brown interior: 423 units to commemorate the Chattanooga 423 area code
  • Pure white with Mauro Brown interior: 524 units to signify the Chattanooga plant's May 24 opening date
  • Platinum Great Metallic with Titan Black interior: 615 units to signify six generations of imported Passats, one generation assembled in Chattanooga, and five decades of U.S. sales

Pricing for the 2022 Passat starts at $31,290, which includes a $995 destination fee. Adding Aurora Red Metallic drives the price up by an additional $395. Each car will receive a special number plate to designate its place in the limited production run.

Ram Trucks adds new anniversary edition for 2022

The 2022 Ram 1500 Limited 10th Anniversary Edition gets an exclusive blue paint color.

Ram Trucks

Pickup trucks have long been more than the rugged workhorse vehicles they once were. People buy and use trucks as their everyday vehicles, and automakers have responded by making more spacious, comfortable, and efficient pickups. Nowhere is that more apparent than with Ram, whose 1500 light duty pickup truck carried away award after award when its new generation hit the streets in 2019. In its top trims, the Ram 1500 shames many luxury cars on interior quality, comfort, and technology, but the brand isn't done adding "stuff."

If you needed any confirmation that big, luxurious pickup trucks are here to stay, here it is. Today, Ram Trucks announced the Ram 1500 Limited 10th Anniversary Edition. Beyond having a tongue-twister for a name, the truck is packed to the gills with highbrow materials and features.

To set it apart on the outside, the truck will get an exclusive Blue Shade paint color, along with a multi-function tailgate and adjustable cargo tie-down hooks. Inside, Ram says that the 1500's already impressive interior will be pushed further into premium territory with quilted leather upholstery and door inserts, a suede headliner, and special 10th anniversary badges. The truck's digital gauge cluster and infotainment screen will display unique graphics upon vehicle startup. Capping off the plush cabin, the Anniversary Edition truck will be offered with a new Indigo and Sea Salt Grey interior color and will get a 19-speaker premium audio system.

The 2022 Ram 1500 Limited 10th Anniversary Special Edition is sold only in a crew cab body style. Ram offers the truck with either the 5.7-liter V8 with eTorque or with its 3.0-liter EcoDiesel engine. The new special edition expands the already mammoth Ram 1500 lineup. At the bottom end of the spectrum is the Ram 1500 Tradesman, a stripped-down work truck with only the essentials. From there, there is the Big Horn, the Laramie, the Rebel, the Limited Longhorn, and the Limited. All of that is on top of the Hellcat-powered Ram 1500 TRX and the Ram 1500 Classic, which itself is offered in three trim levels.
